Deana's Book

I decided to teach myself the Secret Belgian Binding technique and made a book for my daughter Deana. It was major fun and eye opening as I had never done this before and followed the directions from Hedi Kyle. I am not sure if I did this correctly, but it turned out fine and I guess that is all that matters. I have been emailing different book artists trying to get some advice, but as of yet, no one has written me back. I want to make another book right away, but first I want to make sure I am doing it right. Hope you like it.

Having fun with Shadows

The only day I went shopping I stopped to take pictures of the shadows on an old train bridge. I decided to "posterize" in photoshop to make it look like infrared photography, which I enjoyed while I was in college. This is much easier now with a digital camera and photoshop.

Last train for 29 days

School is finally over until January 17 or close to that. I rode home early on the metro and couldn't resist taking a shot inside the tunnel. Don't know what I am going to do with myself until then. Oh yeah, clean my house, pack up and move.

First Day of my new blogger

I was inspired to start a blog by "ericaknits". I loved the fact that she took photos and knitted. I decided to start my own blog and hope to share my inspiration and hope to inspire by some of my work. Lots of stuff going in 2011. Full-time student at the Corcoran School of Art and Design in Georgetown. Just finished my first semester as a grad student. Big time awakening. Need to changes some things for next semester so I don't go crazy like this past semester. Here is a photo from a huge paper wasp nest I built for the Sculptural Book and Paper class that I took this semester. I made the paper sheets out of cotton pulp and some from flax. Wrapped them around cans (that I appropriated from the neighborhood recycling). This was fun. Hope you enjoy it.
